Ray of Hope Summer Day Camp

The Ray of Hope Summer Day Program is a five-week summer day program unlike any other in Whatcom or Skagit counties.

This program serves elementary school-age children who have experienced difficult life circumstances, and exhibit emotional & behavioral issues as a result, preventing them from assimilating into more traditional summer camps.

Kids are encouraged and empowered through outdoor recreational and physical-fitness-related activities, music and arts enrichment, daily off-site field trips, and small group conversations that encourage and support positive coping skills and self-management. To ensure the success and safety of the program for all in attendance, Ray of Hope’s staff-to-child ratio is no more than 1:4.  This is a program for kids who most need, yet seldom receive, a safe, supportive, and fun summer experience.

Ray of Hope runs for six consecutive weeks each summer from 9:00 am – 3:0000 pm.  Extended Care is available beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 5:00 pm for those who are transporting their own children.  For those requiring transportation, Rebound vans pick up at designated spots around Whatcom County.

Family Advocacy

Family Advocacy Support

Cost: Free Of Charge

Rebound acts as a collaborative bridge between state agencies, schools, community-based services, the legal system, and churches.

Through Family Advocacy Support, we are able to strengthen connections with each family participating in our programs by providing a single access point between Rebound and other social services.

 Family Advocacy includes:

•Assessment and advocacy for families working with DCYF & CPS on custody matters

•Attending Family Team Decision Making meetings (FTDM) with Roots families

•Increasing connection to the community for basic resources and mental health services

Nearly all of the children Rebound serves have experienced issues such as abuse, poverty, and family disruption, which contribute to their emotional and behavioral challenges.  The parents of these children have an exceptionally hard time providing positive activities/opportunities for their children, and difficulty supporting their continued academic success.  These families need help to provide a safe, supportive, and healthy home for their children.

Family Advocacy Support services allow Rebound to focus on family support and meeting each family’s unique and ever-changing needs, both at the Roots Program and in their daily family life.  Advocacy within the Roots Program provides one-on-one mentorship, and referrals to additional services, and helps families network with other families struggling with similar challenges.
